Count your blessings, create some memories with your family, read some good stories to your kids! Take time for extra hugs.
We are spending time together today in preparation for Thanksgiving.
Cooking and baking? Yes, but also a couple more things.
We read this book earlier:
Runaway Thanksgiving
by Louise Mandrell & Ace Collins

In 1787 in Kentucky, eleven-year-old Reba runs into the forest with her pet turkey Moses to protect him from being killed and cooked for Thanksgiving, but surprises and danger await her in the wilderness. (little note: Daniel Boone and an Indian named Red Wolf take part in the story) . Great story! We will be making these today (thanks Vonnie for the new inspiration!)........
Recipe hereAnd I downloaded Mary of Plymouth by James Otis (1848-1912). I have really been wanting to read this book and several others by this author to my boys (this one gives a lot of detail about life back then and just goes with the season!)

(click here if you are interested in it too).
I wish I had started reading it to them earlier, but I am planning on starting it this afternoon.
I was very excited to find this book for free. Our library doesn't have it.
To find it free like this was awesome and Google offers a great service... check it out!

Good post! Never heard of those books, but glad you are enjoying them. I have got most of my cooking done. Just the turkey tomorrow. My older son, Sam, came home, and now he and Joel are out to a movie with friends. Thanksgiving is such a nice holiday -- no hype!
Oh I know! I love Thanksgiving. At Christmas, I have to work hard not to get stressed out, but Thanksgiving is so much fun to me!
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! I pray that it is a special time for you and your family. Blessings!!
Looks like we used the same Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving picture on our blogs. Didn't mean to copy you. I actually didn't see yours till after I posted mine. Great minds think alike. Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!
I did those "pilgrim hat" cookies and everybody loved them. :D
