Recently, I was reading a blog post by a friend. The basic topic was about knowing whether there is a God.
I made following statement:
"I believe that humans deny God because they do not want to be accountable for their actions."
I got this reply from someone:
"Isn't that funny? As an Agnostic, I believe that humans insist there IS a God for the same reasons. :)"
Wow, that statement really made me think and I was thankful for the answer from the agnostic.
I had a previous conversation earlier this week with an old friend. She was talking about how Christians (she was talking about Christians she works with) can say some of the most hateful things sometimes. (I am not sure what she claims to believe).
I don't know who all reads my blog, but I feel profoundly that we should not live like the world.
If one claims Christ, but is no different in words, actions, and attitudes than his unsaved neighbor then.... please.... do not tell anyone you are a Christian!
I found this excerpt about Gandhi by using google:
"Mahatma Gandhi is one of the most respected leaders of modern history. A Hindu, Ghandi nevertheless admired Jesus and often quoted from the Sermon on the Mount. Once when the missionary E. Stanley Jones met with Ghandi he asked him, "Mr. Ghandi, though you quote the words of Christ often, why is that you appear to so adamantly reject becoming his follower?"
Ghandi replied, "Oh, I don't reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It's just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ."
Wow... take note Christians, you are being watched. How many souls will be lost because we didn't choose the path of holiness (not our own holiness, but Christ's living in us)? May it radiate!!!I am "preaching" to myself too. May I be so filled with Him that there is no room for sin!

That was good, Kim. Most of us don't act any different than the world, and I am talking about myself, too. Most of the time, it seems impossible to really be like Christ. You know what I mean? I think that as Christians, we abuse our freedom in Christ and end up looking like the world.
I have been following Generation Cedar's blog (Kelly's) and wow! The vitriolic responses she has been getting from the athiestic quarter! I guess everybody is fired up by the recent election. Whew!
Thanks for commenting on my blog. Glad it was funny. I always feel bad laughing about it, but I can't help it. Kids can be stupid, can't they? My father worked all day and my grandmother walked with a cane, so she couldn't supervise us the way a young mother could, so....
Have a nice day.
Your post is "right on the money" Kim, but our society has become SO wretched and wicked that I think many people don't know which way to turn. Also, there are many cliches, and everyone is trying to find the "right cliches" to fit into. No one wants to be the "odd man or woman" who doesn't fit "the mold." Most people don't like to be ridiculed or different. It's better just to camoflauge yourself and "weave into traffic" like everyone else without being detected as different.
It's also difficult when you don't have anyone to identify with. I know that's the case for my husband and I. Even if you are trying to live like a REAL Christian, it's hard when you have NO role models of others who feel like you do. As a result, you end-up fellowshipping alone, and that is NO good, but to fellowship with others who don't hold Christ's standards is to invite your own personal doom.
It's a complex situation with no easy answers. We just have to hold onto the faith we have in Christ and keep moving forward the best we can without letting anyone else knock us down permanently in the process.
Ladies, thank you for your comments.
My main thrust here is that the world can "tell" if we REALLY love Jesus or if we are just using Jesus as an excuse to sin. Mrs. Lady Sofia... you just hang in there girl and keep walking towards the Lord. People will see a change in you and they will want that for themselves.
I think I am going to post some more later about martyrdom.
