I had a really nice weekend. My parents came up from Alabama and spent Friday evening through Monday morning with us. We basically spent time just visiting. No running around or anything like that. Of course Mom had to take the boys to Walmart so she could get them that toy they NEEDED.
We have a family from our church that hosts a huge Memorial day cookout every year. I had never been before but I told Michael that I wanted to go this year. I had no idea until we pulled into the driveway how big of a deal it really is. There were several hundred people there from various holiness churches in our area. Some even come down from Indianapolis according to what someone told me. It was so much fun! They have several open acres with a big creek on the back of the property. They had horse rides for the kids, a softball game, volleyball game and of course lots and lots of food. My boys pretty much stayed in the creek the whole time.. and at the end of the day brought home a crawdad and a toad(both critters have gone on to their eternal rewards[or maybe eternal rest] after too much handling).
After the cookout, we came home and showered and then went to Michael's parents' home for a fire-pit cookout. That was also a lot of fun. We roasted hot dogs and made S'mores (and also ate lots of other goodies).
I forgot to take my camera though and was feeling pretty irritated about myself when Justin reminded me "Mom, it's not the end of the world". So insteadI am posting a picture of Michael after his most recent hunting adventure. This was a 15 pounder. Not the biggest he has killed, but since with his lawncare and Seamless gutters businesses, he has been too busy to take too much time this year. I cooked it and it was delicious! Tomorrow he is heading out for a day of fishing. My man loves the outdoors (and wearing goofy camo hats) and we reap the benefits by always having plenty of wild, fresh meat.
