Life is not boring!

With the freezing cold weather, the van in the shop, and Michael's truck tire deflating every night we have been stuck in the house a LOT this month. Thankfully the van is finally fixed and Michael carpools to work... so we are still good.

I have to say... life is never boring!

I am so thankful for little blessings. Little blessings named Justin, Jonathan, and Ryan. They are such a joy!

They are also very entertaining. They make long, cold winters not only bearable... but fun.

Here are some funny happenings around here lately:

1. My convenience food for the week is hot dogs. Michael and I like the jalepeno/cheese kind so we always try to get those for us and regular ones for the boys. Justin was getting himself another hot dog. I said, "Be careful to get the right kind... ours are hot".

He said, "Those are the cappuccino kind (pointing at the jalepeno ones) because they have the green spots on them."

I wonder what that would taste like???

And yes... if he knew I blogged about this, he would kill me.

2. Yesterday during morning routine, we were on Rule #21 of George Washington's Rules of Civility (a.k.a. manners).

Rule #21 says, "Reproach none for the Infirmities of Nature, nor Delight to put them that have in mind thereof."

I was explaining what this means, so I asked the boys if they knew what "handi-cap" means.... Jonathan said, "A hat?"

It took me a minute to figure out why he said that...it makes sense doesn't it? :-)

3. Ryan is hilarious. He says the "R" sound instead of the "L" sound in a lot of words. Since we don't have a bathtub (only a shower), I decided to let the boys take baths in a big plastic Rubbermade tub occasionally. They love it.

But instead of just letting shower water run half into the plastic tub and half down the drain (we usually run out of hot water when they do that), I use a big stockpot to catch ALL of the water from the shower-head (so no water is wasted).

Anyway... I stand on a wooden box and hold the stockpot underneath the shower head to catch the water. Well of course I let it get too full and then had to use one hand to turn the water off. Wouldn't you know...I lost my balance and dumped almost the whole stockpot full of water on TOP OF MY HEAD and down my back!!!

There was water everywhere!!!! I thought it was funny though... at least it was warm water. Michael got a big laugh too.

Well anyway.. since Ryan was about to get into the tub, he ran in there naked and slipped on the water. He said, " I fell and I did the spRits (instead of spLits).

And last but not least, the other day I heard crazy giggles coming from the direction of the bathroom. Jonathan and Ryan were missing so I knew it was them.

We have a rule around here about playing in sinkfulls of water... our water bill is expensive enough without that!

I found the little culprits not playing in the sink, but in the shower ("So as not to make a mess," Jonathan said.

Bubbles in the shower... what a great idea for a cold winter night :-)

Sounds like "never a dull moment"! I love the idea of bubbles in the shower. Glad the water was warm, too. Wow, I didn't realize that the English of George Washington's day was so different. Glad you explained what it meant. Really.
