Amidst the busyness, Michael and I are trying not to overschedule so that we can actually keep the real reason for the season in our hearts and spend quality time at home with the boys. I am also trying to spend time doing home-made gifts and baking with my kiddos which I did not do as much in the past. We have allowed time for a few things, but on the other hand we have missed some of the things that have been scheduled. We are trying to take the time to smell the... cookies. :-D
Here are some things we have done this month (not necessarily in order... the dates are on the bottom of the pictures).
Cindy (Michael's sweet cousin and my dear friend) directed Stone City Christian Academy's Christmas play. She is the one directing the angel choir.
Everything was beautiful!
Baking and decorating gingerbread cookies with the boys (sorry for the red eye... I just do not have time to edit)

Home-made non-edible Christmas cookie ornaments on another day...

Town Christmas parade: VERY cold, icy, and windy... so we brought blankets! The pictures weren't the greatest (maybe because I was freezing and shaking!)

One of the floats (sorry so dark!)
Warming up in the van and eating the peppermint candy that the parade participants threw at us. We did not stay for the whole thing. It was just too cold!
Last but not least, each morning after devotions I have started our day with a fun, Christmas book. Here are some fun books I am reading (or have read) to the boys:
Bud's Prairietown Holiday by Callie Smith
Apple Tree Christmas by Trinka Hakes Nobel
Winter on the Farm by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Those cookie ornaments are really cute...and I can never stay for Christmas parades because it's always so cold! I bet the boys had fun though.
The Christmas Cookies are cute! Thanks for posting the pic of me in my angel costume. Lol...I felt like the great white blimp..haha! Glad you got to come!
Cindy you looked ADORABLE (I love your hair that way) and did such a great job! I was so proud of you. You worked wonders with those kids. I whispered to Michael during the program that you would probably be exhausted after it was all over.
Very cool! Hopefully we will get more pictures of our family before the Christmas season ends. Thank you for sharing your family traditions with everyone.
Kim,
Nice family pictures. Your little boys look like "little colorful ghosts" in one picture because they have those blankets wrapped around them and down to their knees, LOL.
Those cookies looked GOOOOOD too! I'm glad you and your family are having a nice holiday season.
Thanks everyone for all the nice comments! They make me smile and brighten my day! :-)
By the way... our gingerbread cookies were gone by evening. I found 3 half eaten cookies on my boys bed that night LOL... I think little Ry-Ry was the culprit! He can be a stinker that way sometimes.
Kim, Thanks for your sweet comment and for the link to nice creative fun ideas.
Looks like y'all have been having a very happy Christmas season too.
Enjoyed seeing the fun pics on your blog. The cookies looked cute, the parade sounded fun and COLD...it was all nice.
Have a wonderful day in Jesus.
It looks like your family is enjoying the holiday season! Thanks for sharing!

I enjoyed catching up on your blog tonight, Kim! You've had some great posts recently. I echo your feelings on slowing down and attempting to tap into the true spirit of the season. Sometimes you've just gotta do it.
Blessings!
Your boys are so cute! They are just little darlings! BTW, we live in Laura Ingalls Wilder country. Her family's homestead and the Big Slough are about a 3 hour drive from us. It is a cool place to visit. We read all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books to our boys. We especially loved The Long Winter. Have an especially blessed Christmas.
Yes, I have to get Joel's permission for everything these days. You have three boys. Just wait......
The old saying goes: A woman must always submit to somebody. When she is young, she must submit to her father. When she is married, she must submit to her husband. When she is a widow, she must submit to her sons. And when they are all gone and she is all alone, she still doesn't get to do what she wants: She must then submit to her doctor!
Copied this over from my blog where you'd left a comment!
Loved catching up with you on your blog tonight! Thanks for sharing such great thoughts and wisdom...I can certainly learn a lot from you!
Hope your New year is the best ever!!
:)
Thanks for commenting on my blog:) Our family Loves Apple Tree Christmas, as well as the Laura Ingalls Wilder books.
May Jesus Christ Bless you this New Year!
