This is my own passion when it comes to this delicate thing called parenting. I am humbled!
FOUR SIMPLE WORDS
by Michael XXXXXXXXX
Copyright June 27, 2008
My little boy walked in tonight
And he said four simple words
He'd said them many times before
But this time my heart was stirred.
He said "Dad, I love you"
And I said, "I love you too"
Then I bowed my head and said this prayer
"Lord, I give my boy to You".
For lately, I have noticed that he walks the way I walk
And when I listen closely, I find he talks the way I talk.
Oh, Jesus help me fully yield and lose myself in Thee.
For in watching me, I pray it's You he sees.
I don't want to take for granted
This time we have on earth.
Please, Lord help me comprehend
The fullness of its worth.
Help me take the time to play with him
And to lead him in your ways.
And when he's grown may he know
How a Christian daddy prays.

That is an amazing poem. Michael's a poet and we didn't know it. :/
I emailed Michael's poem to my Dad and this is what he wrote back.
"That poem by Kims husband surely touches the very core of a godly fathers heart cry and brings tears to my eyes and heart each time I read it, it is inspiring indeed."
Very touching poem. God has truly blessed you Kim with such a godly man and He has blessed Michael with a beautiful (inside and out) godly woman. May God continue to bless you life!
*wiping tears* here too! Thanks for sharing.
Great poem! Brought tears to my eyes. I think I'll print it out if you don't mind!
Isn't wonderful how the Lord puts things on our heart?! Thanks so much for sharing!
Beautiful! Wow! He truly put his thoughts together in smooth poetry. Great!
great!
Thank you everyone for the kind comments and, yes, you are welcome to print it and share it with anyone. That's what it's for, to encourage parents to have a passion for and see the importance of bringing up their children for the Lord.
Anita, thanks for sharing it with your dad. :-) From everything you've ever written about him, he seems like someone I'd love to meet.
Hi Kim! What a lovely way to 'meet' you. Thanks for your encouraging words and your visit to my blog.
What a great poem! Very nice!
aawww....that's sooo sweet!! I love it!
Absolutely beautiful! How blessed you are to have a husband with this heartbeat!
Kim, thanks for posting Michael's poem. It brought tears to my eyes also. I don't have boys but the passion for my girls is the same. They grew up so fast. Raquel starts college this fall and Tori is going into 11th grade. I tell you I'm sure we didn't do everything perfectly but by God's grace they are both girls with a passion for God. I can't wait to see the fruit of your parenting.
